Zeev Weiss: "The Synagogue in the Shadow of the Temple and after Its Destruction"

Zeev Weiss is the Eleazar L. Sukenik Professor of Archaeology at Institute of Archaeology at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Director of the Sepphoris Excavations. He specializes in Roman and Late Antique art and architecture in the provinces of Syria-Palestine. He is the author of several books including The Mosaics in the House of Dionysos at Sepphoris, with Rina Talgam (Institute of Archaeology, Hebrew University 2004), The Sepphoris Synagogue: Deciphering an Ancient Message through Its Archaeological and Socio-Historical Contexts (Israel Exploration Society 2005), Public Spectacles in Roman and Late Antique Palestine (Harvard University Press 2014), and Sepphoris: A Mosaic of Cultures(Yad Izhak Ben-Zvi in press).
