DESCRIPTION:In conjunction with ReEnvisioned: Contemporary Portraits of Our
Black Ancestors by Jeremy Okai Davis at the UO Museum of Natural and Cultu
ral History\, a group of Honors College faculty and students are planning a
Wikipedia edit-a-thon to make sure that Oregon’s early Black pioneers are
written into the online encyclopedia. \n\nAn expert Wikipedian will help us
with process\, librarian Chloe Barnett will help with research questions\,
and we’ll have research compiled by student workers and from the exhibit c
urators. We'll work in teams to write entries for Black Pioneers in the exh
ibit who do not have a Wikipedia entry\, maybe edit those whose entries cou
ld be more accurate or robust\, and make a page for the artist.\n\nStudents
don’t need to do anything to prepare. We’ll be learning together how to do
this\, it will be a good time\, and we’ll order pizza. Students who wish t
o participate should email research assistant Ava Szymanski (avajs@uoregon.
