In conjunction with ReEnvisioned: Contemporary Portraits of Our Black Ancestors by Jeremy Okai Davis at the UO Museum of Natural and Cultural History, a group of Honors College faculty and students are planning a Wikipedia edit-a-thon to make sure that Oregon’s early Black pioneers are written into the online encyclopedia.

An expert Wikipedian will help us with process, librarian Chloe Barnett will help with research questions, and we’ll have research compiled by student workers and from the exhibit curators. We'll work in teams to write entries for Black Pioneers in the exhibit who do not have a Wikipedia entry, maybe edit those whose entries could be more accurate or robust, and make a page for the artist.

Students don’t need to do anything to prepare. We’ll be learning together how to do this, it will be a good time, and we’ll order pizza. Students who wish to participate should email research assistant Ava Szymanski (avajs@uoregon.edu
