Community crafts and congratulatory notes:

Help us Honor and Celebrate Our Lavender Graduates!

The LGBT Education and Support Services is accepting submissions for community crafts and congratulatory notes for our Lavender Graduates!

This graduation for LGBTQIA+ UO students will be held remotely on Sunday June 6th, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. In lieu of being together in-person, we are bringing the community to each graduate's home by sending GradPacks with a tassel, stole, and community crafts.

What is our call for submissions?

We are calling on you, our community of artists, creatives, crafters, writers, and supporters to offer a memento, note, or handmade craft to each of our Lavender Graduates. Submission may include handwritten notes, paintings, embroidery, jewelry, collages, dried flowers, enamel pins, or really anything!

Why call for submissions?

Due to our ceremony being remote this year, graduates are missing our beloved community being part of this celebration. This is a creative way to be part of our graduate’s day by offering tokens of our appreciation and celebration. Plus, it is a fun activity for those looking to share their quarantine craft or be part of an initiative for LGBTQIA+ community care!

Submissions may include:

1) Crafts mailed to all graduates. Crafts should come in quantities of 10, 15, 20, or 30 items of your choosing.  Once we receive your crafts, we will take care of shipping these individually to graduates.

---------> Items can be as simple as a congratulations card or as complex as a painted picture. Submissions may be handwritten notes, paintings, embroidery, jewelry, collages, dried flowers, enamel pins, or really anything!

---------> Items must be mailed or dropped off to a Eugene, Oregon address by May 17th, 2021. We will coordinate with you for this exchange!

---------> Gifts should be reasonably sized (think compact!) to be distributed in one goodie bag per graduate.

 2) A digital note or image (congratulations, advice, community love) sent to all graduates. Your note will be printed and sent to each graduate in the Lavender Grad Pack. Your note can be silly, serious, uplifting, supportive, or all the above!

Personalized items and digital notes must be received by May 17th. This allows adequate time for packages to be assembled and mailed to graduates in time for Graduation on June 6th.
