DESCRIPTION:Oregon Bach Festival presents Viano String Quartet\n\nDavid Shi
frin\, clarinet\n\nThe name “Viano” was created to describe the four indivi
dual instruments in a string quartet interacting as one. Each of the four i
nstruments begins with the letter “v”\, and like a piano\, all four string
instruments together play both harmony and melody\, creating a unified inst
rument called the “Viano.” Praised for their “huge range of dynamics\, mass
ive sound and spontaneity” (American Record Guide)\, the Quartet\, alongsid
e Avery Fisher Prize winner David Shifrin\, performs works by Caroline Shaw
\, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor\, and Edvard Grieg.\n\nThis event is sponsored b
y Hop Valley Brewing and KLCC 89.7 FM.\n\nIn accordance with state mandates
\, as of 6/14/22\, OBF performance spaces do not require face masks\, proof
of vaccination\, or negative COVID test for entry. However\, given the ris
e in Lane County COVID cases\, the University of Oregon recommends individu
als wear masks indoors when around other people. These policies are subject
to change as the Festival progresses.
