Current DMA students are invited to join the DMA Thesis Seminar for a lively panel discussion and Q&A on the value and practicalities of DMA research. Topics will range from ways to make your research enriching for your performing life, advice on choosing and carrying out a project, and tips and tricks for preparing your lecture document, oral defense, and lecture recital.

Panelists represent a variety of experiences with DMA research:

  • Steven Pologe has overseen a large number of DMA projects here at the UO and he offers extensive experience as an advisor.
  • Grace Ho is herself an alumna of the program, as well as our former Graduate Advisor and Grad Department Coordinator, and offers a deep knowledge of this process at every level.
  • Eduardo Moreira is a recent graduate of the DMA program who can reflect not only on the process, but also the utility of the degree requirements for his performing career.
  • Camille Ortiz earned her DMA at the University of North Texas and offers expertise that includes how research has informed, and continues to inform, her ongoing project to diversify voice repertoire.
  • Justin Stanley is a current DMA candidate who is in the late stages of his degree and offers practical advice from his experience on the ground.
