The Do-er Gathering: Portland's alternatives for housing security

Wednesday, April 24 at 5:30pm to 9:00pm

White Stag Block, Main Event Room
70 NW Couch Street, Portland, OR 97209

*By invitation only

On Wednesday, April 24, we will bring together organizations and individuals who contribute to community-driven solutions addressing Portland’s housing crisis. The goal of the gathering is to briefly present the big picture view of where we are and how we got here, support the do-ers who are creating positive change and to inspire future do-ers in our community.  We will showcase current projects, discuss and identify opportunities and collaboration, and create a working network of do-ers in the Portland community.

This gathering will highlight how Portland is better because of the work of individuals and community groups. If that’s you, we want to hear from you! There are two ways to participate:

  • As a Contributor - You have time, resources, and perhaps even an idea to contribute, but you’re not sure how you can help. This is a chance for you to hear what others are working on and lend that hand or whatever contribution makes sense for you. If this is you, then please register as a “Contributor” along with the sector of the community you’re coming from: city or government agency role, non-profit organization, and interested community member.
  • As a Do-er - A “do-er” is an individual, group or organization actively working on a community-driven project addressing Portland’s housing crisis and seeks additional help or resources in order to be successful. If this is you, please register as a “do-er” in the field below. Note: A select number of do-ers will have the opportunity to present their projects and be eligible for a small grants opportunity. Because we have limited seats for do-ers at this gathering, only currently active projects will be eligible to apply. More information about the application process will be emailed to you. Do-ers who were not selected will still be encouraged to attend the gathering.

Please send all accessibility questions and accommodation requests, including requests for translation and interpretation, to this email no later than April 6, 2019. Thank you for your consideration and registering early for this event. If you have any questions, please reach out to this email.

Food will be provided. Located in Portland’s historic Old Town Chinatown district, the White Stag Block, is accessible by public transportation and a SmartPark lot at NW Naito Parkway and Davis Street.

The event is sponsored by Portland CityCommissioner Chloe Eudaly’s Office; Office of Community & Civic Life; University of Oregon’s Agora Journalism Center; Central Northeast Neighbors (CNN), East Portland Neighborhood Office (EPNO), Northeast Coalition of Neighborhoods (NECN), Southeast Uplift Neighborhood Coalition (SEUL) North Portland Neighborhood Services (NPNS), Neighbors West-Northwest (NWNW), Southwest Neighborhoods, Inc.
