The Digital Transformation Lab: Data Strategies

Friday, February 17 at 10:00am to 12:00pm

Lillis Business Complex, Room 440
955 E 13th Ave, Eugene, OR

The Digital Transformation Lab is an informal and inclusive gathering for anyone interested in learning more about digital transformation strategy in action. People of all skill levels and backgrounds are welcome to attend to learn about developing business efficiency and productivity through the implementation of digital technologies. Coffee and snacks will be provided.

Gatherings are in-person and typically include an introduction to a topic related to digital transformation, a real-world example of how it is enacted, and opportunities for hands-on practice alongside members of the University of Oregon Foundation team.

What is digital transformation?

Digital transformation is the process of changing business practices and culture across an organization to deliver value in new ways, through digital technologies that increase efficiency and business agility. It can take many different paths, depending on what the organization is trying to achieve, by introducing technologies such as big data, cloud computing, machine learning, and more. Digital transformation also involves a significant shift in culture, processes, and workflows, which are just as critical as innovation and technology implementation in successful strategy execution.

Why should I care about digital transformation?

Digital technologies are changing the ways in which we do business, from reshaping individual companies to disrupting entire industries. To remain competitive, organizations need leaders who can leverage their understanding of the digital landscape to develop cross-functional transformation strategies.

You might be interested in dropping into The Digital Transformation Lab if you would like to learn more about:

  • Business process mapping and process optimization
  • Value stream tracking and management
  • Change management
  • Program and project management
  • Data governance
  • Data integration and architectures
  • Scrum and Agile methodologies
  • Software development and DevOps
  • Serverless applications
  • Cloud infrastructures
  • Web APIs
  • How all these things work together

Who is hosting the Digital Transformation Lab?

Under the direction of the Professional Edge program in the Lundquist College of Business, the University of Oregon Foundation will provide students access to systems and personnel to facilitate their hands-on learning experience within a digital laboratory environment. The UO Foundation's objective is to provide an opportunity for students to apply their learning in the real world, as well as offering mentorship and support.
