Talk: "Under the Sea with Historic Oregon Newspapers"

Thursday, January 13 at 12:30pm to 1:30pm

Knight Library, DREAM Lab, Room 122
1501 Kincaid Street, Eugene, OR

Since the nineteenth century, Oregon’s newspapers regularly told tales of the mysterious creatures known to haunt the Pacific Ocean’s depths. From killer serpents and giant squid to little sea squirts, newspaper accounts of life below the water’s surface often muddled both fact and fiction. Join Hayley Brazier, PhD candidate in the Department of History, to explore the historical perceptions of Oregon’s marine species through the lenses of print and art. Light catering will be served.
