The talk, given by Joyce Cheng, will revolve around a chapter in her book-in-progress about the intersection of surrealism and anthropological research in the interwar period, The Persistence of Masks: Surrealism and the Ethnography of the Subject. She anticipates presenting this body of materials at the “Eccentric Primitivisms” colloquium at Johns Hopkins University, spring 2022.
