The U.S. State Department is pleased to announce the creation of the first Seattle-based Diplomat in Residence to better serve individuals in Oregon, Washington, and Alaska. Diplomats in Residence (DIRs) are career Foreign Service Officers and Specialists located throughout the U.S. who provide guidance and advice on careers, internships and fellowships to students and professionals in the communities they serve. DIRs are available to answer questions and share insight with those interested in Foreign and Civil Service careers, internships and fellowships. As part of the DIR’s commitment to engage with individuals who are seeking meaningful and rewarding opportunities around the world representing America, Dara Yin -- Diplomat in Residence for the Northwest and an Oregonian – will be available for office hours on November 3 from 9am-3pm at the Career Center in Tykeson Hall. You can chat with the DIR about paid internships, fellowships that fund graduate school, and career opportunities with the U.S. Department of State. Or simply ask questions about what it’s like to live and work overseas as a diplomat, including the many personal and professional rewards. All academic majors are welcome.
