Artist Statement & Bio:

My name is Desire Rukundo and I’m originally from Kampala, Uganda. Today I do most of my creative artwork from Salem, Oregon, United States and sign my work under the artist name Desire Rukundo.

I find inspiration in many places and have traveled to Redwoods California, Brookings, Oregon, Istanbul, Sweden, Mozambique, Togo, Kenya, Austin Texas and many more which has influenced my creative style and process. I create art because photography and doodling. I specialize in Photography, and I focus on Movement. I also enjoy working with Doodling.  

My art style is visual artist. I am motivated by Solitude, loneliness. I have been creating art for 3 years. My favorite artist is Miquel Barcelo and I find their work to be unique! I connect with the art community by holding and hosting photo walks that, bring together all kinds of creators in one area to create and bounce off ideas off of each other. it is always a super fun experience seeing all kinds of creators in one big creative space. My work has been shown at Elsinore gallery, local art shows, Saturday markets and I hope to do more gallery showings. 

I intend for others to experience an experience of finding calmness in chaos when they see my work.
