This is a drop-in group open to all students who would like to learn or improve upon stress reduction strategies. A student’s stress may be an overall build up of stress; stress due to life circumstances; just feeling overwhelmed; or perhaps academics and adjustments. There is no need to pre-register. Please check in at the front desk of the Counseling Center to participate during the date and time of the group. Each group meeting will focus on 1-2 stress reduction techniques and will describe the reasoning behind the technique(s) along with showing /practicing how to do the technique(s). There is no limit or sequential series to this drop-in group. Some of the techniques will be from various mindfulness practices (Eastern Philosophies) and others will be utilizing examples from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). The stress reduction techniques will vary from breathing practices, meditation, sound therapy and other skills shown to reduce tension in the mind and body.
