Redefining "Outdoorsy": A Conversation With Personal Trainer and Outdoorsperson Tasheon Chillous
Thursday, May 13, 2021 6pm to 7pm
About this Event
Join us spring term as we host a series of speakers that are working to redefine the term “outdoorsy”. Often times the term “outdoorsy” seems exclusive to one demographic: straight, white men. Throughout the term we will be bringing in a variety of different speakers who will discuss creating and holding space in the Outdoors where often times their identities are not always welcome.
Our fourth and final speaker this term will be Tasheon Chillous! Tasheon is a Fat Personal Trainer and all around outdoorsy person. She is the creator of BOPOMO, a fitness class for Fat/Plus Size folks to find safety, empowerment, and community through movement. Her goal as a trainer is to help guide folks to become independent exercisers who listen to their body and walk into every place knowing they are worthy of taking space. Like her work as a trainer she leans into taking up space in the outdoors by sharing her experiences as a person moving outside in a fat body.
