The Honorable Josephine H. Mooney (Oregon Court of Appeals) will take you back to 1975, to a quadruple murder scene in Southwest Georgia. She will take you on a deep dive through the investigation, pretrial motions and unexpected trial court rulings. She will guide you through the jury selection process, the evidence and the verdict. You will not read about this case in any textbook. It is not a celebrated case. But it is a case that offers a rare and raw glimpse into how the American justice system works. It presents an opportunity to embrace positive change within that system. Come prepared to think about race and juries. Be ready to reconsider justice and truth, and what the right to an impartial jury really means. Come prepared to ask questions.
