UO in Portland School of Architecture and Allied Arts announces June 4 Open House

The School of Architecture and Allied Arts at the University of Oregon in Portland the White Stag Block announces the annual Open House, June 4, 2015.
 

The University of Oregon in Portland announces the date of the annual Open House for Thursday, June 4, 2015.  Floors 1 and 5 of The White Stag Block will be open to from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  Student work from the Department of Architecture, the Department of Art – Digital Arts Program, and the Product Design Program will be on display.  The UO in Portland is located at 70 NW Couch Street in Portland’s Old Town | Chinatown | Japantown and within Portland’s vibrant Creative Corridor. The Open House is scheduled to coincide with Portland’s monthly First Thursday.

Final thesis projects from the Department of Architecture in Portland graduate students will be on display with an exhibition of studio projects viewable on Floor 5. The projects address a range of issues affecting the built environment.  The title of this year’s exhibition is “VITALIZE,” and will feature work from the following studios:  UO Associate Professor Gerald Gast with Soft Urban Waterfronts; instructors Becca Cavell, FAIA, Jake Freauff, AIA, both of THA Architecture, and UO John Yeon Center director, Randy Gragg with the Willamette Falls Legacy Studio; and UO Associate Professor Hajo Neis, PhD, with (RE)Generative Architecture.

Department of Art  - Digital Arts Program and the White Box will present, “Everything is Ours,” for the 2015 Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Arts Thesis exhibition.  The exhibition, located in the White Box, UO in Portland’s visual laboratory, is located in the White Stag Block Floor 1 at 24 NW First Avenue.  The exhibition will be on view from the opening reception on June 4 (6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.) and continue on display from June 4 to July 25, 2015, Tuesday through Saturday, 12 noon to 6:00 p.m.  The exhibition includes work from students in the digital arts program in Portland, Adrian Cunial, Hannah Mueller, Jackie Green, Lee Ordonez, Megan Tewalt, Pace Taylor, Sophia Brady, Taylor Lorraine Wilson and Thor Loutzenhiser. Students were taught by Assistant Professor Rick Silva for the spring 2015 term.

The Product Design Program in Portland will be showing examples of student work as part of Open House.  The work will be on display in the Event Room of Floor 1 at the UO in Portland.  The work has been branded by the students in the program with the hashtag, #UOPDXPDXV – UO Portland Product Design ’15. The exhibition includes work by Barton "Bart" Carrade, Ephrem M Diribsa, Hana G Hiratsuka, Nopasorn "Prim" Incharoensakdi, Stephanie S King, Christopher F Lau, Sean M Leyden, Miranda R Robinson, Eugene R Tseng, Alexandra "Alex" T Vasquez, Scott D Warneke, Daniel T Wilson, Elizabeth "Liz" Zarro, and Yawei Zhang. The Product Design Program in Portland was taught by adjunct instructors, Diane Pfeiffer and Susan Sokolowski for the spring 2015 term.
