Jeffrey Sommers is a professor of political economy and public policy at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. He has held visiting professorships at the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga and Babes-Bolyai University in Romania as well as several Fulbright Awards to East Europe where he has lived for many years. His counsel has been sought by ministerial and government leaders in Europe and by a State Department for new Ambassador training in Washington, DC. He has written for outlets such as the Financial Times, The New York Times, Project Syndicate, The Guardian, The Nation, Social Europe among others.
