Material Explorations,
a few memos on planned obsolescence.

8.5 x 11 Boise paper, HP inkjet ink, double-sided tape

As objects and material enter my life and space, I am forced to deal with their presence and accumulation. Much of what arrives is destined for trash, secondary to what I’m really after. Forcing myself to observe the detritus of contemporary family life afforded small moments of care, inspiration, and even whimsy. Collectively, these materials and objects denote our shared industrial and consumerist histories. With individual care, however, these objects of planned obsolescence gather, hold, and project individual meaning.
