In collaboration with Black Studies and in honor of Black History Month, the Department of Linguistics will host two film screenings with discussion to follow with Dr. Rachel Weissler and Dr. Shiloh Drake.

Films begin at 5:30p at Straub Hall Rm 145, refreshments will be provided.

Friday, Feb 17 @ 5:30p: TALKING BLACK IN AMERICA follows the unique circumstances of the descendants of American slaves and their incredible impact on American life and language.

Thursday, Feb 23 @ 5:30p: SIGNING BLACK IN AMERICA is the first documentary about Black ASL: the unique dialect of American Sign Language (ASL) that developed within historically segregated African American Deaf communities.
