 gnant presentation on the works of Marsha Maytum and we hope to see you he
 re in Eugene. \n\nIn an era of unprecedented change and challenge\, Marsha
  Maytum\, FAIA\, helped to redefine the role of the architect in society. 
 She believed that we can no longer afford to be simply form makers — we 
 must learn to focus the transformative power of design and advocacy to lea
 d our communities toward a just\, resilient\, carbon-neutral future for al
 l. Design & Advocacy is a compendium of lessons learned during a nearly ha
 lf-century career devoted to making the world a better place.\n\nJoin us i
 n Eugene at the College of Design on October 14 starting at 5 pm for a rou
 sing lecture followed by refreshments in Lawrence Hall's Hayden Gallery. W
 e hope to see you there!\n\n\n\nWilliam Leddy\, FAIA\, is a Founding Princ
 ipal of San Francisco-based LEDDY MAYTUM STACY Architects (LMSA)\, the 201
 7 recipient of the national American Institute of Architects Firm Award. F
 or over three decades he has been a national leader in the design of envir
 onments that promote social justice\, inclusion\, and urgent climate actio
 n.  LMSA has received over 175 regional\, national and international desig
 n awards and has been recognized by numerous organizations including the A
 merican Institute of Architects\, the French Institute of Architects\, the
  Norwegian Association of Architects\, the U.S. Department of Energy\, the
  San Francisco Museum of Modern Art\, and the National Building Museum. LM
 SA is one of only three firms in the nation to have received twelve or mor
 e national AIA Committee on the Environment Top Ten Green Project awards 
 – the Institute’s highest recognition of integrated design excellence.
  Leddy has lectured widely and served as visiting professor at the Souther
 n California Institute of Architecture and the California College of the A
 rts\, as the Howard A. Friedman Visiting Professor at the University of Ca
 lifornia\, Berkeley\, and the Pietro Belluschi Distinguished Visiting Prof
 essor at the University of Oregon. His 2010 design for the Ed Roberts Camp
 us in Berkeley\, California - an international center for the Disabled Rig
 hts Movement - is widely recognized as a national landmark of advanced Uni
 versal Design at a civic scale. The simple\, replicable UD design strategi
 es developed at the ERC have been applied to all the firm’s projects sin
 ce\, creating inviting public spaces that welcome everyone regardless of a
 ge or ability.   \n\nLMSA’s new book - “Practice with Purpose: A Guide
  to Mission Driven Design” - was published in 2023.
