Thursday, April 5, 2018 4pm to 6pm
About this Event
1501 Kincaid Street, Eugene, OR
The South Korean government impeached President Park Geun-hye at the National Assembly of Korea on December 9, 2016, and the Constitution Court upheld the impeachment in a unanimous 8-0 decision on March 10, 2017. Rep. Keum, who drafted the bill of indictment as a ranking member of the Legislative and Judiciary Standing Committee, will present what components enabled the impeachment. In the course of this unprecedented impeachment, the people’s power to assemble and protest, and the laws that guarantee the First Amendment, catalyzed the non-violent democratic regime change.
