Watch the 2016 Sundance Film Festival award winner, Kiki, a documentary of the cultural history of the LGBTQ youth of color who created the artistic activist subculture or Kiki Ballroom Scene in New York City. The Kiki scene was created within the LGBTQ youth-of- color community as a peer-led group offering alternative family systems (“houses”), HIV awareness teaching and testing, and performances geared towards self-agency and stylized femininity. Kiki is known as this generation's Paris is Burning.

This event is in preparation of a Kiki Ballroom Showcase from the Portland LGBTQIA community on November 2nd. Visit our website for updates on this program!
