Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art (JSMA)
1430 Johnson Lane, Eugene, OR, 97403
This term, the Interior Architecture Furniture Design Studio (IARC 486/586) focused on designing and building benches for the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art's special exhibition of Italian Renaissance tapestries. Students worked with curators at the museum and Associate Professor James Harper, who helped bring the Barberini Tapestries to Eugene. Over the past 6 weeks, students with no prior experience designed and built 16 wooden benches to suit the space and the exhibit.
There will be a public reception for the class' work on Wednesday, December 6th, from 5-7pm at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art. All are welcome to view the benches in context, enjoy light refreshments, and speak with the students about their work.
