Tom Lively, cofounder of Organically Grown Company, will share his story conceiving, convening, and growing Organically Grown Company. In 1977, a few gardeners, small-scale farmers, hippies, environmental activists, and dreamers living near Eugene, Oregon, started getting together to talk about a shared belief: that organic agriculture was a key to nourishing healthy people and sustaining a healthy planet. Over the next 40 years, Organically Grown Company steadily grew to become the largest organic produce distributor in the Pacific Northwest. Today, the company is owned by the Sustainable Food and Agriculture Perpetual Purpose Trust and continues to continues to find innovative ways to promote health through organic agriculture as a leading sustainable organization.
