Join us for a screening of the film LAND/TRUST (2022) followed by a discussion with Alexii Signona and Ruth Anne Beutler. LAND/TRUST (2022) documents the effort to restore the coastal prairie in the Quiroste Valley Cultural Preserve at Año Nuevo State Park, which encompasses the former site of Mitenne, a village of the Awaswas-speaking Quiroste people. The Amah Mutsun Tribal band currently stewards the land and maintains the memory of the Quiroste ancestors. Through re-establishing traditional land management practices and an intensive plant propagation project, the work is revitalizing many native coastal prairie plant populations.
