The University Opera Ensemble is open to all members of the university community by audition only. All SOMD music majors must have their studio teacher's permission to participate.

AUDITION DETAILS

• Auditions for the February 2027 opera, Florencia en el Amazonas by Daniel Catán, will take place Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 4:00-6:00 p.m.
• We will also be performing an extensive Opera Scenes Program in May 2027.

WHAT TO PREPARE 

• Please email Dr. Karen Esquivel or Dr. Gustavo Castro for the music if you want to audition for a specific role. 
• If you are interested only in the chorus, you can bring in an aria or art song in Spanish for the auditions.
