Join filmmakers and artists, JuanMa Pagán Teitelbaum and Catherine Page Harris, as they host the Annual Dean’s Discourse. Moderated by Dean Adrian Parr Zaretsky, the two lecturers will lead the crowd through their planned discussion, discussing the intersection of film, art, and more. Join us in LA 206 at 5 pm.

Catherine Page Harris,  Associate Professor, teaches Landscape Architecture at University of New Mexico in the School of Architecture & Planning. Her built work resides at McLean Sculpture Park, Detroit,  Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge Visitor’s Center, NM, Deep Springs College, CA, and McCovey Field, SF, CA, among other sites. Recent projects include Poured Earth Collective with architect Charlie O’Geen, developing projects involved in creating structure from site, Sharing a Drink, exploring  human and non-human water relationships, Trans-species Repast–sharing meals with animals in North Jutland, Denmark and Vermont, US. Works have been shown at Kunst(Zeug)Haus, Zurich, (2020) the Center for Contemporary Art, Santa Fe, (2016), UNM Art Museum (2016), the Land Shape Festival (2015) in Hanstholm, DK, Marble House Project, VT (2015) and the Wignall Museum, CA, (2014). Harris works in art/design, and digital/analog expressions.

JuanMa Pagán Teitelbaum is a documentary filmmaker and ecological farmer. He holds a master's degree in Caribbean Studies  and a wide-ranging experience in the world of cinema, including lighting and sound work, music video cinematography and editing, and work on movies and documentaries. Alongside Mariolga Reyes Cruz, JuanMa has produced over 30 short documentaries on sustainable agriculture in Puerto Rico. His mini-documentary series Harvest Today (Cosecha Hoy) was broadcast on The Puerto Rico Public Broadcasting Corporation and received an Emmy Suncoast nomination. The Stewards of the Land is his first feature-length documentary which showcases the efforts of three Puerto Rican ecological farmers working in the main island of Puerto Rico.
