About Marcia Torres-Ruiz
Marcia Torres-Ruiz is the director of talent acquisition at Vacasa, the largest full-service vacation rental company in North America. Prior to her work at Vacasa, she served as a talent acquisition manager for Newport News Shipbuilding, supporting the building, decommissioning, and repair of the U.S. Navy’s nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and submarines.
Torres-Ruiz’s career began at Anheuser-Busch, Inc., where she worked as a brewing manager at the company’s Los Angeles brewery. There she learned that she not only enjoyed the manufacturing process, but also had the drive to find the right talent, ensure they were onboarded effectively, and provided a solid training environment.
After four years of working in brewing, Torres-Ruiz took her mentor's advice and moved into human resources. She began supporting the learning and development team in Los Angeles before joining the company’s Williamsburg, Virginia brewery as a recruiter, where she worked in various aspects of human resources such as employee relations, employee engagement, the Lean Six Sigma improvement method, learning and development, and community partnerships. Anheuser-Busch’s 2008 merger with InBev provided Torres-Ruiz with the opportunity to support the transformation of the brewery with change management and the implementation of a new management system that incorporated factors of the Six Sigma and lean manufacturing improvement methods. She later moved into a zone training manager role in which she oversaw seven breweries, supported corporate programs, and created global programs.
Torres-Ruiz graduated from Oregon State University with a BS in food science.
