What design tools do we need to create safe, dignified housing for all? How should we measure the success of affordable housing developments?
Join us for a moderated conversation, a guided tour, and a presentation and workshop with students and faculty of the University of Oregon School of Architecture and Environment Spatial Justice Initiative, showcasing leading national housing precedents.
Participants will be the first to preview draft case studies from Good Neighbors II, an upcoming comprehensive guide to affordable housing design in the United States, updating the seminal 1997 publication of the same title.
This event will include:
＋ a small exhibit with U of O research on affordable housing design precedents and social, economic, health, and racial equity.
＋ a moderated panel discussion, with speakers including an architect, a non-profit affordable housing developer, and a community leader (to be announced).
＋ small group working sessions that give participants the chance to reflect on content from the original book, and to offer input to inform the design tools of the new publication.
＋ a guided tour of St. Francis Park Apartments, a groundbreaking supportive housing project by MWA Architects.
Supported by MWA Architects and the U of O Design for Spatial Justice Initiative.
Free admission. Food and drink provided.
