The Romantic movement blossomed across Europe during the nineteenth century. Johannes Brahms’ Scherzo adhered to the discipline of the classical age, yet, who has ever composed more romantically and with such passion? Gustav Mahler penned his only work of chamber music, Quartet in A minor, as an idealistic student, while César Franck brought sensuousness and seriousness to his epic Quintet in F minor.
