https://csws.uoregon.edu/50th-eventsCSWS is collaborating with School of Music and Dance to produce Feminist Futures, an evening of music and dance performances by members of the school's faculty and guests in celebration of the center's 50th anniversary.
Schedule:
- 7:00 PM: Preconcert panel discussion
- 8:00 PM: Concert
- 9:30 PM: Reception
Participants:
- Camille Ortiz (voice), Gustavo Castro (pianist), and Stephen Rodgers (music theorist) presenting on and performing songs of Mary Turner Salter (1856–1932), an American female composer who never received rightful recognition for her work.
- Choreographers and dancers Shannon Mockli, Bárbara Lima, and composer Akiko Hatakeyama with original work centering around gender, identity, societal barriers, and personal stories.
- Lydia Van Dreel, Melissa Peña, Leander Star, and Ann Ellsworth will be performing as part of the Lawrence Graduate Bayreuth Tuben Quintet (LGBTuben Quintet).
