The University of Oregon Sports Product Management Program and the Lundquist Center for Entrepreneurship in partnership with the Oregon Sports Angels welcomes expert sport product entrepreneurs to discuss the future of sport and outdoor industry.
Jody Filkins is the CFO of Handful, an active-wear company that "supports" grabbing life by the handful. Their tagline is their items are designed to #FlatterNotFlatten. Jody is a UO alumna who worked at Intel for 15 years before starting the journey with Handful. She is also a CPA, Green Belt LSS and self proclaimed wild humanist.
Scott Hamlin is the cofounder of Looptworks, a certified B corporation design brand that creates meaningful products from excess materials. Scott has industry experience as companies such as adidas AG, Jockey International, and Royal Robbins. He is considered a thought leader on the circular economy from a practitioner's perspective. He is a year-round bicycle commuter, ans spends his free time surfing, iking, running, hiking and playing outdoors with his family.
Steve Nichols was formerly the VP of Nike’s Global Strategic Account Sales. During his 36 years at Nike, Steve served in a variety of general management, sales and leadership roles. At the 35-year mark, Steve achieved the milestone of “Knighthood” (a distinct honor in the Nike community) in addition to receiving the Bowerman Award (for leadership) in 2006 and a Global Maxim Award in 2011. Since leaving Nike in November 2017, Steve is now focused on developing his consulting business, is a founding member of Oregon Sports Angels, volunteers in the local community, and tries to schedule in fly-fishing into his agenda whenever possible.
We will feature local Duck alumni who have started their own successful businesses, as well as offer tours into our world class Innovation Lab.
