AUDITION NOTICE – ACTORS NEEDED
ALL UO STUDENTS WELCOME TO AUDITION!
Roles for: 2 to 3 Men; and 2 women (actors of color/Latinx, and non-binary actors encouraged)

Actors needed for the University Theatre production of TWO plays by José Cruz González:

 

Watermelon Kisses, & Marisol’s Christmas by José Cruz González
Watermelon Kisses, and Marisol’s Christmas, to be produced by the department of Theatre Arts via zoom late March/early April 2021. The plays will be frames and illustrated through visual art and projections.

 

Audition information:
Auditions will be held on Zoom on February 4th, 7-9pm

Prepare – one 1 min contemporary monologue in which you play a character close to, similar to, yourself
Roles for: 2 to 3 Men; and 2 women (actors of color/Latinx, and non-binary actors encouraged)
Also needed: student visual/digital artists (preferably have taken TA 472 Latinx Theatre)

Watermelon Kisses information:

In Watermelon Kisses two brothers tease one another about what happens when you swallow a watermelon seed, but the story is much larger than this as the boys are named for the Mayan and Aztec gods Tlāloc and Quetzal.

Marisol’s Christmas Information:

In Marisol’s Christmas a family flees over the border from Mexico to the United States on Christmas Eve and takes refuge under the overpass of a freeway bridge. There, Papa uses found objects to tell a story that gives the family hope and joy on this night of nights.

 

Production information:

Also needed: student visual/digital artists (preferably have taken TA 472 Latinx Theatre)

Rehearsals: on zoom 2 – 3 nights per week beginning in late February

Production: we expect to record actors the week of April 19-23; and release the recording on UT’s YouTube around April 30th.
