2021 OREGON ASIAN CELEBRATION MOVES TO THE MONTH OF MAY IN DOWNTOWN EUGENE
The Lane Events Center has been the home of one of the state’s largest annual cultural festivals, the Oregon Asian Celebration, for the past 35 years. Traditionally held over the third weekend in February, thousands of people across the state attend. But like so many other community events, will the Oregon Asian Celebration be cancelled? “No,” says Event Director David Tam.
The Celebration organizers are working with various partners to transition this popular indoor community festival to various outdoor venues throughout the month. Partners such as the City of Eugene and Downtown Eugene, Inc. are excited the event is relocating, rather than canceling. With COVID-19 still prevalent, Celebration organizers decided it would be safer to hold the event outdoors, while still maintaining pandemic safety protocols, such as requiring face masks of all articipants, socially distancing and strongly encouraging attendees to do the same. All activities will be free to the public. The Asian Celebration website is being redesigned and will feature updates on this year’s reformatted event in downtown Eugene in the next couple of weeks.
