Digital Communications Assistant - Application Deadline
About this Event
The Strategic Communications team at the Lundquist College of Business seeks a student employee to support its digital communications efforts so we can better communicate with our current students as well as our online communities. This role will be co-managed by our Marketing and Communications Lead for Student Success, and Senior Graphic Designer/Creative Content Lead.
Possible Duties
Your main responsibilities could include:
- Designing digital display monitor content (using templates and brand guidelines) to promote upcoming events to Lundquist College students
- Uploading and scheduling slides to our online hosting platform for our building TV monitors
- Repurposing existing content, such as blog posts or YouTube videos, into social media content
- Capture monthly photo and video footage of business students and campus
- Editing video footage and b-roll into reels for our Instagram account
- Uploading social media content into a scheduling tool (such as Loomly, Later, or Facebook Creator Studio)
- Creating artwork and assisting with graphic design for digital publications, print collateral, or social media content.
This role consists primarily of weekly and monthly recurring tasks. While there is flexibility in due dates and many tasks can be worked on in batches, there will be some advanced planning required and set deadlines each month so that we can schedule and distribute content for the month ahead.
We want this to be a valuable experience on both sides. Our staff will work to tailor additional projects to the student’s individual interests and professional enrichment.
Key Skills and Competencies
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Deadline-Driven: in order to be a good fit for this role, you must be able to meet deadlines consistently
- Collaborative: you value the perspective of others, getting and giving feedback, and working creatively to solve problems that meet the different needs of all people involved
- Process-oriented: you are comfortable following a system or workflow to complete tasks and projects; this means working within a project management system and collaborating with others on projects where you may be responsible for one piece of the total puzzle
- Attentive: detail-oriented and double checks their work
- Resourceful: someone who is willing to Google/Youtube a question to find an answer (or check out a system’s help docs and support center)
- Thoughtful: we work with lots of different folks and we’re committed to communicating with our community in a thoughtful, accessible, and inclusive manner. You take notes, think things through, and consider the implications of design and writing decisions before hitting “publish”
- Over-communicator: we trust our student staff and their expertise. As a hybrid team that operates both on campus and remotely, we rely on proactive updates and clear communication to work effectively.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with graphic design tools such as Canva
- Short-form video editing skills (for Reels, Instagram stories, etc.)
- Strong writing skills and the ability to adapt your writing to different voices (for instance, our brand voice is clear, inspirational, and thoughtful)
- Great communication skills (you provide regular updates and can express ideas thoughtfully and succinctly through written text such as email, comments, chat).
- Familiarity with social media platforms, particularly Instagram
- Comfortable with learning technology and online systems
Bonus Skills
- Photography or videography skills
- Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
- Experience with project management systems (such as Asana, Wrike, or Basecamp)

During the first month of work, there may be more on-campus hours required as you are onboarded, but there will be flexibility to work remotely on a regular basis after the onboarding period.
