Simone Dinnerstein, piano
In the darkest moments of 2020, OBF commissioned Richard Danielpour to create a musical response to the burgeoning pandemic. The piece, performed by Simone Dinnerstein, had its virtual world premiere in December of 2020 and commemorates segments of the American population that have been affected by COVID-19, including those who have lost their lives to the virus. The subsequent recording led to three million iTunes downloads and a Grammy-nomination. Now, the “expressive and thrilling” (The Philadelphia Inquirer) Dinnerstein performs the piece live for Eugene audiences. Three transcriptions of Bach choral works will also be performed.
This event is sponsored by PacificSource Health Plans.
In accordance with state mandates, as of 6/14/22, OBF performance spaces do not require face masks, proof of vaccination, or negative COVID test for entry. However, given the rise in Lane County COVID cases, the University of Oregon recommends individuals wear masks indoors when around other people. These policies are subject to change as the Festival progresses.
