Decolonizing Ecosystems

Saturday, March 25 at 10:00am

Kaneohe, Hawaii

Participants on this Communtiy Engagement Expedition will work in watershed-focused ecological restoration project. We will work in native plant nursery in Kaneohe called Hui Ku Maoli Ola, by removing invasive mangroves from the coastline and planting native species in fish ponds. We will move from the mountaintop to the oceanside throughout the week, exploring traditional land management perspectives. The group will also engage in discussions about sustainable development that blends western indigenous resource management practices from Polynesian resource managers and have opportunities to hike and explore the Waianae Mountains and possibly snorkel in Kaneohe.
