SOJC Advertising Portfolio Workshop: For Writers, Strategists, Art Directors, Designers, and Production

DATE CHANGE: This workshop has been moved to Sunday, November 9, due to the Big Ten game on Saturday. 

This half-day portfolio workshop led by SOJC advertising instructor Bob Rickert will cover:

• Formatting your portfolio site. Using Squarespcace? Adob Portfolio? Behance? We'll discuss formats and designs. 
• What kinds of content should go on your portfolio.
• How to balance your portfolio--what kind of work succeeds in attracting employers at the beginning of your career. 
• How professionals and recruiters view your work. 
• Showing your personal self on your portfolio site.
• Networking.
• LinkedIn do's and don'ts.
• Creating a resume.
• Interview tips and tricks.

Portfolio reviews will be done on a first-come first-serve basis starting at 10:30 after we've covered site building, content, and design. This workshop is great for students who do not yet have a portfolio as well as students who have an existing portfolio they would like reviewed. If you do not yet have a portfolio, you'll still benefit from this workshop. 

Donuts will be served. There will be a 30-minute lunch break at noon.

To ensure that we have enough time for all participants to have their portfolios reviewed, this workshop is for SOJC students only. It is not open to other departments or members of the public. Thank you for understanding.
