Tough Calls, Celebrated

Join the School of Journalism and Communication for a lunch reception and award ceremony celebrating the tough calls journalists made in the field in 2018. You'll hear firsthand from the winning journalists of Minnesota Public Radio News, who won for their careful and rigorous reporting of a #MeToo moment within their own organization.

The winners will provide a brief talk about their story and participate in a moderated Q&A with the audience. Lunch will be provided. This event is free and open to the public.

  • 12 p.m. Lunch reception begins
  • 12:30 p.m. Program and award ceremony begins

The Ancil Payne Award was established in 1999 by the family of Seattle broadcasting legend Ancil Payne to honor the difficult ethical choices journalists make behind the scenes--critical decisions that are often invisible to the public.
