In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on Nov. 22, 1963, an exhibit containing Kennedy memorabilia housed in the library’s Special Collections and University Archives is on display in the Paulson Reading Room on the second floor (north end) of Knight Library.
Items from the collections include a photo of Kennedy visiting campus circa 1958, signed correspondence between Kennedy and Oregon Senator Wayne Morse, a hand-written letter from First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, and a program for a memorial service held on the UO campus only one day after Kennedy’s assassination.
The display was created by Manuscripts Librarian Linda Long.
Viewing hours are 10am-4:30pm M-F and 11am-4:30pm Saturday. Closed Sunday. Special Collections will be closed Nov 28-Dec. 1, but will reopen on Dec. 2. The items will be on display until December 5.
