Dr. Jamie Washington "Why Diversity is Everyone's Business"

The EMU's theBEseries is proud to team with UO Housing and UO Career Center and DSL Multicultural Organizational Development Committee to welcome Rev. Dr. Jamie Washington to our campus. Dr. Washington is the president and founder of the Washington Consulting Group, a multicultural organizational development firm in Baltimore, Md. He has served as an educator, administrator, and consultant in higher education for over 29 years.

Rev. Dr. Washington is the president and a founder of the Social Justice Training Institute. Dr. Washington earned his B.S. degree from Slippery Rock State College, and two masters of science degrees from Indiana University. He holds a Ph.D. in college student development, from the University of Maryland. Dr. Washington also holds a master of divinity from Howard University School of Divinity. Dr. Washington serves on the board of Many Voices, A Black Church Movement for LGBT persons: and Campus Pride, and Beyond Diversity.  He serves as a trustee for the American College Personnel Association.

He is a writer, speaker, coach, consultant, teacher and trainer. He has spoken all over the United States, as well as in Canada and South Africa. He serves as the Co-Pastor of Unity Fellowship and is the proud grandfather of five and great uncle to three.

Known as “The Engagement Specialist," Dr. Washington sees himself as an instrument of change. He works every day to help people find the best in themselves and others. He will speak to us about how the work of diversity is essential to all job descriptions and all lives.
